The Running Side of NFLF

Good Day!

I am a bit late this morning as I decided to venture out to a different church that is a bit further away and that required me getting up and out the door earlier. So, you can enjoy a late morning or early afternoon cup of coffee with me instead!

I have been busy with running and fitness stuff and enjoying every bit of it! So many great people coming to NFLF for reasons I truly appreciate. I do not have problem with the desire to body build, but I find much more enjoyment helping people with improved running and functional fitness. Two clients this week talked of how they can accomplish things they have not be able to in years and another client told me she received two compliments on her improved body composition. For me, those are the best things to hear! Using the knowledge, I have been fortunate to receive from others, and helping people make positive changes in their lives, is such a cool and rewarding thing.

Once upon a time we were No Finish Line Running and after gaining considerable education in health and fitness, we decided to change our business name to “No Finish Line Fitness.” This change was a bit scary, as we knew many recognized us as an all things running resource business. The change to NFLF did not in any way reduce our running resources capability, but actually enhanced the running side of our business. Adding strength and mobility to our scope of business, has allowed us to help runners become functionally stronger as well as add an important need to their overall fitness. Runners tend to solely focus on running and helping them to understand the need for strength and mobility has been a priority to us.

Staying on the subject of running. I continue to struggle with how to add knowledge through formal education. I certainly immerse myself in books on both running and fitness, but I often feel like I need to find ways to gain formal education. Last night I came across another coaching certification for runners and after some research, I believe it would be beneficial to pursue. The course description outlined the program as being science based and that certainly fits my beliefs. A couple other factors make it appealing, one being it is all online, and second, they even offer a substantial discount to Veterans. The most challenging part will be the time required in front of the computer as I already spend a lot of time on the computer already. Regardless, I am excited to gain more structured knowledge and then add another line to my already to too long signature block! ??

Level II Running Coach (RRCA), Certified Gait Analysis (Ace) and Certified Personal Trainer (ACE).

It is nice to receive certificates of education, but in the end, what is most important is being able to make real differences in the lives of people. I do not have a wall displaying my accomplishments, but I do feel blessed to be able to use my accomplishments to help people.

This week I will be working out at the NFLF Center and I often invite anyone to join myself and sometimes Doug, for our workout. Our workout is very challenging but can be modified to accommodate most anyone. Tentatively the schedule looks like this:

Monday 5:30 PM

Wednesday 4:30 PM

Friday 4:30 PM

If you would like to join us, drop me and email at: mike@nofinishlinefitness.com

Have a great week and God Bless!
