Happy Father’s Day!
My Dad passed away around 12 years ago and I still miss him. Despite not being perfect, he was a good man and I wish I could spend the day with him. Anyhow, I would like to send a shout out to all you Father’s, it’s an important job and because you’re a runner, you are probably really good at it! Have a great day!
Most of you out there may be happy with your training, but some might not be and this is for those ones. Are you stuck in the proverbial running rut? Are you trying to get a bit faster? Maybe you’re slowing down and don’t know why? Or maybe you just need a little structure in your running. Well, running is hard, we start out and we see lots of improvement, we continue to get better at each 5K or 10K, but then it gets harder and harder to hit those PRs. Some of you probably get to the track and that makes a difference, but it’s not always easy. Some don’t enjoy large group track workouts or even fear the more advanced runners they encounter at the track workouts. You shouldn’t let those factors keep you from the track, they can be very helpful. Check out Coastal track workouts on Tuesday nights and you might find it useful. Having some help can really improve your running and also keep you running.
For all the reasons above, I have decided to set up a Monday night runners training session at Dover high school. It won’t just be a track workout, but instead it will be various workouts each Monday night at 6:00 with attention given to individual needs. Having opportunity to work with a certified coach you will be guided through a workout each week that will be fun and helpful to your personal running. Even if you aren’t looking for improvement in your PRs, having a weekly training session will help jump start your running the rest of the week. You may not desire a full-fledged training plan, but instead some direction, this will be perfect.
One week we will be on the track learning all about what a track workout is, how to, and proper educate. Another week we will be out on a field running sprints, or on a hill trekking up and down. Some weeks we will be on the back roads of Dover running Fartleks or just enjoying an easy run. Each week will be productive, but fun and you will always walk away glad that you came. Great for anyone whether you’re a beginner or more experienced. My goal is to help anyone that shows up get something out of coming and have a great time while they do it!
The fee for all of this is simple; you can walk up for $10 or $30 monthly. Simple plan, you can check the website each week and see what we’re doing and the come on out. It will be a great investment for you both financially and time wise. We will meet on the parking lot along Bellamy road across from the baseball field and next to the soccer fields. We will always start right at 6:00, so get there a few minutes early. If you have any questions, drop me an email. If you want to try a week out, feel free to come out and your first Monday will be a freebee.
Hope to see lots of you and tell your friends!
