Ups and Downs

Good runs and bad runs are a way of life for a runner. Guess what today’s jaunt on the treadmill was? The first mile seemed to pass quickly and everything felt great, as I was in the middle of mile 2 I felt like I should have been on mile 4! At that point I could tell this was going to be a long 6 miles on the treadmill. Is it possible that 6 miles on the treadmill is further than 6 miles on the road? After today I would say without a doubt 6 miles on the treadmill is much further than 6 miles on the road!
Okay, I understand a treadmill mile is only a little longer than a road mile, sorry for the exaggeration. Really, day 4 of the week seemed to kick my butt. Not sure if it’s the pace of my previous two runs or just all the miles over the week caught up with me. Anyhow, I varied my speed at least 200 times, watched the Bruins beat Montreal (repeat), and debated the merits of running. Finally at mile 6 I slowed down to a walk, a bit short of the normal 6.5 miles I normally run. Another half mile may have ended any possibility of running ever again. After walking through a warm down, I was done, no stretching, no protein, just done. Not my best day of running.
Tomorrow will hopefully be an easy 3-4 as I prepare for 11 on Saturday. The ups and downs of running!
See you tomorrow!
