Wednesday Coffee and Chat

Good morning! This week is certainly moving along and as I mentioned Sunday, March is not my favorite month so checking off the days quickly is fine by me. This is my weekend to work at the base so this stretch isn’t always the easiest, but it goes quickly so that’s cool. It appears that we got minimal snow last night and with a fairly warm day ahead hopefully we will start to see some of this stuff disappear. Seems as even the biggest winter enthusiast are ready for these snow banks to go away. Last night’s running group was a bit small and the group leader apparently was less than motivated so we ran much less than normal. We did part of the Red’s Shoe Barn 5 miler race course so we did get a few good hills in. I will admit that having the additional daylight next week is the perfect timing as the cold dark nights are getting old. Thankfully this group has been great to be part of and have made winter running a lot easier for me. Hopefully the whole group will run “Reds Shoe Barn Race For A Better Community” on April 11th. I have no doubt everyone is ready and capable so hopefully it will fit into their schedules. That weekend is actually a work weekend for me, but am hopeful the powers to be will let me either come in late or reschedule my day altogether. Winter running has certainly been a challenge this year as most of you know well, but having a group has certainly made a difference for me. I have always been partial to solo running but I am not so sure I would have been out there as much if I were running by myself. This morning I am headed to the Center for the 6:30 Pilate’s class. I am pretty tired but Pilate’s has quickly become important to me so I need to be there. Our awesome instructor has a key to the Center so my attendance is not necessary but I have started seeing the effects of Pilate’s on my running and that keeps me going. Pilates is not easy for me at all and I often feel pathetic that I struggle, but I realize I just need to keep with it and hopefully improve. Despite not being able to hold every pose or movement I feel that it is making a difference to me so it doesn’t really matter that I am far from good at it. In fact it gives me encouragement that if I stick with it and hopefully improve, I will see even greater results in my running. Well I need to get to the aforementioned Pilates so I will take my last sip of coffee and bid you goodbye. Have a wonderful day and enjoy the blessings of it all! God Bless! Mike
