Wednesday morning Coffee and Chat

Good morning! Got back from our nation’s capital yesterday, working one day and then back in the air tomorrow morning headed to North Carolina for nearly a week. Lots of time at the airport and above the clouds the past few months and more ahead. Without a doubt Jet Blue is my number one choice for flying without a close second. Next month I am flying out to Seattle and that will be a non-stop nearly 6 hour flight! I am grabbing C & J out at 2:30 tomorrow morning for a 6:10am flight so not a lot of sleep tonight. No worries, I am excited to get to NC and see my bride! Yay. Last week I scheduled a meeting with a young man at the Center for 7:30 yesterday and thanks to an on-time flight and a friend picking me up at Logan, I was easily able to get back, have dinner with Lew and have the meeting. The young man is a soon to be high school freshman at Dover and his parents brought him to us back in April looking for some help for his running. Unlike most that come for help with their running form, this young man (Ethan) is actually a football player looking to improve his running technique. We most definitely saw some issues last April and now with some time to commit to training we are going to work with him to improve his technique and his weaknesses. Definitely a little different for us but thanks to our Medical Motion Gait Analysis system we are able to break down his running and use a similar approach we use when helping distance runners. Working with Ethan is super enjoyable because he is a wonderful young man that is very coachable. We have worked with a few teenagers in the past and not all experiences have been so great. Not surprisingly some teenagers can be difficult and typically they are only coming to us because the parent(s) want them to. I definitely would like to help kids similar to Ethan that are eager to improve and willing to put in the effort. Will be a fun summer working with him and I am confident that the results will be great. Next Tuesday night we will begin our NFLR Advanced 10K training group. We will be meeting at 6:30pm Tuesday at the Center and then again on Saturday at 8:30am back at the Center. The following Tuesday’s will move to the Dover track where we will push the runners a little outside of their comfort zone. This group will be a lot of fun because the expectations are that those that participate are running 4 to 5 miles and want to get stronger. The great thing about our training is that it will be relative to the individual so we can help all levels of runners. The only requirements are initial distance and desire. The investment is $65 and that also covers a great running shirt! Contact us at info@nofinishlinerunning.com for more info or contact me direct. This group will show off their accomplishments at the Saunders 10K in August. Pilates in the Park has been going well as we have had great participation as well as lots of happy attendees. I have not been able to be there to actually participate and I can tell with my running. After things settle down I am hopeful but for now it is my priority to get others there so that they can reap the benefits of this great class. Thursday night at 6pm at Henry Law Park in Dover! Time to get out to the base and squeeze a lot of work into a single day. Hope your weekend is going well! Take care and thanks for having coffee with me! God Bless! Mike
