Good morning! Up this morning at 4:45 so that I meet a client at the track by 5:30 so coffee is my savior today! Glad that we are nearly mid way through the week as this week is just plane crazy for me! If you want to see how crazy it is, check out my special feature this week as I chronicle my daily activities. This week may be a bit different as I am in the midst of two training groups on top of my stable of clients. The biggest challenge is getting in my strength training and physical therapy exercises, but so far I have gotten one workout in and a second on my planner for tomorrow. Last night I met with the new group of half marathon training participants and 90 percent of them are familiar faces so this group should come out of the gate ready to go. Starting with this group I am going to be a lot more firm dealing with even the slightest injuries. I am frustrated by the amounts of running related injuries and I'm determined to prevent as many lingering ones as possible. Even with a tight training schedule, injuries need to be properly attended too without fear of losing time. Did you see Sunday's NFLR Newsletter? Some great pieces there on some race experiences along with some good race preparation stuff. Be sure to subscribe to this free publication. Saunders 10K on Thursday night so that will mark the end of the current 10K training group I'm doing. Saunders is an interesting race as it was founded by a gentleman that had a seafood/ bar in a beautiful location in Rye. A few years back he sold the property to condo developers and the restaurant is no more replaced by condos. However the race continues on from the same location and thrives because of the course and also being apart of the Seacoast Series. Looks like it will be a great night to run! Well I have to get to the track. Enjoy your coffee and be sure to check in tonight to see what today looked like for the coach! mike Update Back from the track and getting ready for my work day. The time at the track was as useful as ever and while I know most of my clients are aren't big fans of the track; it really has a lot of great value for both me and them. For me I can observe there running and see if they are improving? For them it is a great tool for judging pace and speed. Being pushed on a track isn't a lot of fun, but when you're they are done, they feel better about having to reach back even when they didn't feel they had it in them. This pays huge dividends when you are running a race. Time to grab what's left of my coffee and head out. Have a good one!
