What a day!

Good morning and happy Friday! Today will be an amazingly strange day as I will put on my Air Force uniform for the final time. 35 years, 6 months and 13 days since I began this blessed career at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. Many great times and ever more great friendships along the journey to this final day. I truly have been blessed to have been able to wear the uniform and serve my country. What a great ride! We are really excited about tomorrow and the beginning of our “NFLR Spring/Summer Community Training Group.” This group will feature multiple coaches helping beginners through intermediate level runners enjoy running like they have never before! As the name of the group aptly includes the word “Community” in it as that is a key component of NFLR training groups. We are developing a “community” of runners that are not only becoming healthy and strong runners but, also special friendships. In our third year of training groups NFLR has a growing community of great who continue to participate because of the joy that not only find through their running but, also the people they meet and develop amazing friendships. We strive to provide healthy professional training with certified coaches while insuring that fun is at the center of it. This combination is like no other experience around. Often people misinterpret what “non-competitive” runner means. NFLR certainly enjoys most levels of runners and we have the capability to include most runners in our training group. Being non-competitive means a runner is not competing primarily to win a particular race. Non-competitive certainly does not mean that a runner cannot strive to improve or even try to compete in their age group. Those are both great goals and we have in fact helped many to have such success. Our focus is to help our runners enjoy the process of intelligent training and let that process control the results. We strongly feel that a healthy and strong runner that also finds greater joy in their running will not only improve but, more importantly run for a long time. We do not believe in sacrificing any component of “intelligent training” or just as important the enjoyment that should come with running. The group will kick off tomorrow at 8:00am, from the NFLR Center in Dover. We hope we have many beginners as well as intermediate level runners as well. As I said we will have many coaches that will insure no matter what level you are they will be there for you. Come join us! Time to get my day going and finish what I began over 35 years ago. Crazy! God Bless and hope to see you soon! Mike
