Wrap up and ready for the people's business

Good morning! Yesterday’s NFLR Coaching & Endurance Resource Center open house was fantastic on many levels! From a business prospective you always want lots of people because that hopefully translates into lots of business, however while we are a business we were more pleased by the number of people we got to share our passion with. That was most definitely the case and nothing pleased me more looking around “the center” and seeing people “getting it” as to why if they aren’t doing Pilates, they should be. Then I smiled as I saw Jasmin Lepir demonstrating to another visitor some simple strength and conditioning movement that even I had never thought of! Back in the endurance side of the center Lew was showing some running form analysis video on a 32 inch screen as opposed to my laptop computer. All the while others were walking around checking out some of our tool and mostly waiting to ask questions to our staff of trained professionals. Thankfully we have a full staff of trained certified running coaches, so we were able to keep up with the many visitors. For me it was difficult because I talk too much and once I started was like; come this way and let me show you why we have a blue line on the wall next to the treadmill, then over to the running form analysis video to explain some stuff, then back to the treadmill for some demonstration on one of my favorite drills, then over to the tools area for another drill and on and on… So I would spend far too long with one person but I couldn’t help myself, much like a kid with too many toys! By 4pm both my back and throat were a bit sore and I was most definitely ready to collapse into a chair. Having my daughter and wife there wearing their NFLR shirts and helping our visitors understand what “The Center” was priceless. They are both certified running coaches and have so much to offer from their experiences and skill sets, but far beyond that they give me emotional support that has made all of this possible. Another great source of support yesterday was having little Roy there greeting everyone with a puppy kiss or just an excited offer for to them of petting him. Roy is a special little dog (in many ways) that does not have a mean bone in his little body. Roy may growl at a squirrel or someone passing by, but given the opportunity to actually defend his peeps, he is going to run out and offer up himself to be petted. This type of personality fits well with an event like yesterday as Roy got lots of love and embodied what “The Center” is about as a place of enjoyment while utilizing one of our many resources. “The Center” while having some similarities to a gym, is definitely not that, but instead a great place for endurance athletes to improve every facet of their sport and we will keep it personal and even enjoyable! Yesterday was lots of fun and my thanks go out to my partner Lew Ricker who worked alongside of me this past month to set up “The Center.” None of yesterday would have been possible if not for Lew and his passion for this project. With the grand opening behind us, now it is time to get to work of the people. Yesterday brought us some great exposure and now we have to actually do what we do best and that is to help runners/ endurance athletes with every facet of their activity. If you didn’t make it by yesterday by all means come by “The Center” anytime we are open and we will give you a personal tour minus the balloons. Life has now just gotten much better for endurance athletes! Time to get to work! Have a great Sunday and hope to see you soon. God Bless! Mike
