North Carolina to New Hampshire

Good morning,

This past week was truly crazy, I left (drove) North Carolina early Tuesday morning, spent four days in New Hampshire, and then departed Dover (NH) early Friday morning returning to Pinehurst (NC), and capped it off yesterday morning by running the Pinehurst Turkey Trot 5K.

Not often do I feel the nearly 55 years of age that I am, but Friday night when I got out of my Highlander, I felt every bit of my age and maybe then some! When Kathy’s alarm went off Saturday morning, had she rolled over and said that she was not up to running the 5K, I probably would have put up little resistance and gone back to sleep. However, Kathy did not suggest staying in bed, so we climbed out of bed and thankfully it was early enough to drink a good amount of coffee and water, and just as important, to stretch a body that was beat up considerably from driving over 2000 miles in 4 days.

I knew when we decided on retiring to North Carolina, while having family, close friends as well as maintaining an NFLR presents in New Hampshire, would challenge me at times, and this past week was about as much of a challenge as I can take. However, all those factors are important and while I may not have gotten to do all the things I would like to have done during my short visit, I certainly enjoyed seeing some people that are important to me and getting to enjoy a run with our NFLR group.

I was thrilled to run with the NFLR winter training group, and am really proud of DeeJ, Doug, Julie and the rest of the coaches are doing. In fact, this past Wednesday a new runner showed up to join the group and when I asked her what brought her to the group, she responded by saying: “I was looking for a way to stay running through the winter.” Thanks to our great team of coaches, NFLR offers the perfect solution to those that need some motivation to keep running through the winter.

Crazy week indeed, and now I can relax a bit and enjoy this week that includes one of my favorite holidays. I’ll chat with you on Wednesday and save my Thanksgiving thoughts for then. Till then, enjoy your week!

God Bless!

Michael
