Friday Coffee & Chat Ramblings

Happy Friday!

Good morning and thanks for joining me for coffee. Speaking of coffee, I bought a new bag the other day, and I thought I got the same coffee I had bought previously (and liked). However, it is obviously not the same, and I am not so sure I like it. What to do? I enjoy coffee immensely, so the thought of not enjoying my morning cup so much, is bit sad. ?

We are only a few weeks out from the 2018 Apple Harvest Day 5K, an event that NFLR will be managing for our third consecutive year. It is a great event to be a part of both as a runner or as a volunteer, so I would highly recommend either running one the best fall races on the Seacoast, or if you are interested in helping as a volunteer, contact Deanna Swallow (DeeJ), at deejrun@gmail.com. I have run the race and I can honestly say, it is my favorite 5K on the Seacoast. Great fall race, challenging but fair course, and a great local fair after! As a volunteer, we have a lot of fun and the opportunity is there to help Friday evening registration/bib pickup or Saturday morning for the race itself. Or both!

Yesterday morning, I met with one of NFLR’s clients who is in her final month of preparation for the Chicago Bank of America Marathon. I have been personally coaching this runner and I am really excited for her! It is always a bit nerving for me to experiment with new training techniques because I fear a poor result will hurt the training for the runner. Well, with this runner (Chloe), I actually implanted not one, not two, but THREE fairly significant changes to how I normally train a runner. I will not go into the details at this point in time, but when she is successfully across the finish line, I will chat at greater length about the training experience. I can confidently say that thanks to Chloe’s willingness, I am a better coach because of the experience.

A little of 5 weeks remain in my running downtime! I am checking off the days.

This is Reach the Beach weekend and it will be our second year of not participating. My hopes are that I will be healthy for RTB 2019. Best of luck to all of you that are headed to the start line this morning!

My second cup of coffee taste’s a bit better! ??

Have a great weekend and God Bless!
