Marathon Time

Good Day!

I am a bit late today, as I met with one of runners (Chloe), and then got distracted a bit in the Center after.

Chloe was kind enough to make the driven here from Concord, which my hip was thankful for. Our meeting was focused on strategy for next Saturday’s Richmond Marathon. We have been working together for a few years now and this partnership has been a wonderful success! Chloe came to NFLR with a desire improve her training and have a better marathon experience. Her previous experiences with marathons and other races, were full of anxiety and misery. Thankfully she bought into our training philosophy and enjoyed both great success and more importantly, a much more enjoyable 26.2 last year in Chicago. After Chicago last year we assessed her race and determined she needed to get functionally stronger.

It was not long after we assessed Chloe’s Chicago Marathon, No Finish Line Running, remodeled and became No Finish Line Fitness. Chloe was the perfect example of our new model. For her running to get stronger, she needed to get functionally stronger. We had multiple reasons we wanted to remodel our business, and Chloe represented one of them. No longer do we want our runners to focus on solely running, instead, we were determined to help our runners perform at a higher level and reduce injury possibilities by improving their foundational strength. A runner’s body is asked to handle stress in more areas than just the feet and knees, and in order to improve (and prevent injuries), functional strength training is critical. Chloe accepted my winter training strategy which put less focus on running and more on a full body strength program.

Next Saturday when Chloe runs the Richmond marathon, she will be stronger in her core, glutes and legs. The results will be however they are, but I am confident Chloe will again enjoy another successful marathon. She is relaxed and confident, which is born out of her training experience. Marathons are hard and, in the days, running up to it, it can be very stressful. Doubt, fear, injuries and other emotions play with our brains, but good training helps alleviate much of the stress.

I am so proud of Chloe. She has worked hard and accepted every challenge I gave her over the last year. She had a couple bumps along the way, but she stayed the course. Truly I see a more confident runner.

I will be paying close attention next Saturday to my phone, and most likely I will be more nervous than Chloe! I am so grateful for the trust our runners put in us and their success is very personal to me. My desire is for Chloe to run strong and have a smile when she hits 26.2!

I had more I wanted to chat about this morning but sharing a bit about this great runner kept me on her. Anyhow, I hope you have a great week. If you are a military veteran, I would like to thank you for your service and self-less servant-hood.

God Bless!
