What's Going on in September

Good morning

I hope your September is off to a great start. NFLF is in the midst of our 30 Day Plant Based Diet Challenge. This is day 7 and I cannot say there has been any huge revelations yet. I just mixed up some vegan blueberry muffin batter, only to discover I do not have a muffin pan, so I made blueberry bread. For the most part I have stuck to the challenge, but I believe I failed Friday night when I ate at Panera. My guess is I at vegetarian, not vegan. Nevertheless, I will continue to do my best over the 30 days.

I suppose as I get older, the thought of Alzheimer’s and Dementia become more of a concern. While I am confident that I will avoid these two serious illnesses, I certainly pay attention to what science is finding. A week a so ago I read some valuable findings on the subject. The topic was 12 ways to reduce our chances of getting dementia. Thankfully, with exception of head traumas I have most of the 12 covered. Look at the findings.

Anyone want to join me for a run?

I have started back up my run/walk program and my timing weather wise is perfect. If you want to get back into those running shoes, or need some incentive, come run with me next Saturday (September 19th). I will be running from the NFLF Center at 10 am. As I said, I am run/walking, but even if you are fully running, you are welcome to join me. It will be a 35 to 45 minute run. Drop me an email with any questions or if you plan on joining me. Should be a lot of fun!

*We will practice safe and healthy social distancing.

A goal for 2021

Jennifer (daughter & NFLF partner) and I discussed a goal for next year and it came down to either run Reach the Beach or the White Mountain Milers half marathon. We chose the White Mountain Milers half marathon. This gives us approximately one year to prepare. Most likely, we will put together a No Finish Line Fitness training group, so plan on joining us. My favorite memories are from running this great race.

This past week may have been one of my worst weeks for working out. No excuses, no regret;, today is the beginning of a new week and I’m ready for my best week!

Thanks for having coffee with me. Have a great week and get moving.

God Bless
